Telescope Lending PRogram
The Friends of the Claremont Library and the Pomona Valley Amateur Astronomers (PVAA) sponsor the library's popular telescope lending program. The program has three Orion StarBlast Reflector telescopes that can be checked out for a week at a time to patrons age 18 and older who have a library card. (Parents can check out a telescope to use with their kids.)
The Orion StarBlast is a sturdy tabletop telescope that is appropriate for beginners. It comes with a user-friendly guide and other materials. Our partnership with the PVAA includes their technical help and expertise, as well as educational presentations at the library.
Library patrons named two telescopes in name-the-telescope contests: the Claremont Galactic Space Viewer and the Tell-Me-Scope.
