Telescope Lending PRogram
The Friends of the Claremont Library and the Pomona Valley Amateur Astronomers (PVAA) sponsor the library's popular telescope lending program. The program has three Orion StarBlast Reflector telescopes that can be checked out for a week at a time to patrons age 18 and older who have a library card. (Parents can check out a telescope to use with their kids.)
The Orion StarBlast is a sturdy tabletop telescope appropriate for beginners, and a user-friendly guide and other materials come with it. Our partnership with the PVAA includes their technical help and expertise, as well as educational presentations at the library.
Two of the telescopes were named by library patrons in name-the-telescope contests. They are the Claremont Galactic Space Viewer and the Tell-Me-Scope.
