Telescope Lending PRogram

The Friends of the Claremont Library, the Pomona Valley Amateur Astronomers, and the Claremont Helen Renwick Library sponsor the library’s popular Telescope Lending Program. The program has one Orion StarBlast reflector telescope (blue) and three Apertura reflector telescopes (beige). A telescope can be checked out for a week at a time to patrons aged 18 and older who have a library card.
Both the Orion Blast and the Apertura telescopes are sturdy tabletop telescopes, utilizing a “grab-and-go” design, suitable for beginners. Each telescope for check-out comes with a user-friendly printed guide and other video resources to help navigate the skies. The Pomona Valley Amateur Astronomers are an incredible resource for everyone interested in exploring our skies.
If you are interested in checking out a telescope, please visit the Claremont Library in person. If a telescope is available, you may check it out immediately. There is no process for reserving a telescope. Telescopes are checked out on a first-come basis.
You are welcome to call the library (909-621-4902) to see if a telescope is available, but you will not be able to hold, reserve, or check out a telescope until you arrive in person to fill out the Telescope Lending Agreement.
