About the Claremont Author's Collection
Since 2007, the Friends of the Claremont Library have been developing a collection devoted to the works of significant writers who have resided in Claremont or have an association with the city. Judy Wright, the late Claremont historian, originally conceived the idea for the collection. Under an agreement with the County of Los Angeles Public Library, the Friends fully owns the cataloged collection.
This unique collection is permanently housed in the Claremont Authors Room in the library.
You can view the catalog of the collection online with these instructions.
We welcome additional donations to the collection and accept books, manuscripts and ephemera by Claremont authors that meet the following guidelines:
- Books by Claremont authors must be published in more than one copy, bound in a volume or volumes and be available to the public through purchase or donation.
- Manuscripts by Claremont authors must be unique items such as letters or unpublished works.
- Ephemera by Claremont authors are works directly related to Claremont authors, such as magazine reprints of an author's work, pamphlets containing an author's work, postcards, bookplates or other materials owned by authors or depicting their work.
Please note that any donated materials will be accepted at the discretion of the Friends Claremont Authors Committee. If you would like to donate, please contact the Friends at [email protected].
