Stars in Our Eyes
Friends of the Claremont Library has formed an exciting new partnership with the Pomona Valley Astronomers Association (PVAA) to start a Telescope Lending Program. Patterned after a similar program in New Hampshire, our library will have an Orion StarBlast Reflector telescope that can be checked out for a week at a time to patrons age 18 and older who have a library card. (Parents can check out the scope to use with their kids.) The Orion StarBlast is a sturdy tabletop telescope appropriate for beginners, and a user-friendly guide will come with it. Our partnership with the PVAA will include their technical help and expertise as well as educational presentations at the library.

The telescope will be available for check-out beginning in mid-April. Meanwhile, start thinking of a good name: we will be holding a name-the-telescope contest. Entry forms will be in the library in March.

Poetry Readings - Join local poets and poetry lovers in the Library Meeting Room on February 26 at 2 p.m. to hear Timothy Steele and Bob Mezey. Details here.
