We accept book donations for this sale up until Oct. 15th, then we begin accepting book donations again after the sale, Monday Oct. 24th.
We accept the following:

Hardcover Books
Paperback Books
Fiction and Nonfiction

We do not accept:
Magazines
Books that are torn or show extreme wear

Twice a year dedicated volunteers hold a large used book sale at the library.  Many library supporters donate used books to be sold at the book sales that are eagerly awaited by book lovers.

 

Your donations are welcome anytime during library hours (up until two weeks before the sale.)  See below for donation guidelines.

 

The books are sorted and organized for the sale that is held at the library in the Fall and Spring.  This is a huge fund-raiser for the library.  Make room on your shelves by donating books, then fill them up again by attending the book sale to buy the interesting books available! 


Recently we have been having Antiquarian Book Sales where we sell our more valuable and collectible books. 

 
Bookstore

Year round in the east lobby of the library, shelves are filled with used books for sale.  These shelves are filled at least weekly with new books, so look often.  Many bestsellers are available here.  Take time to browse and buy used books that support the Friends.
Book Donation Guidelines -- Please Read

FOCL welcomes donations of the following:
• Books (paperback or hardcover) in good condition
• Textbooks (less than 2 years old)
• Working CDs, DVDs, and VHS tapes
• Dictionaries

HOWEVER, we cannot accept the following:
• Damaged or mildewed books
• Magazines or professional journals
• Cassettes
• Outdated textbooks

HOW TO DONATE:
• Please bag or box your donation. (Bags and boxes will be retained.)
• Request help at the front desk if needed.
• Leave donations on the cart inside the east door of the library.  Please do not leave them outside the library or in the book drop slot.  That bin is for library books only.
• If you have more than FOUR bags or boxes of books, please call ahead (909-621-4902) or email friendsofclaremontlibrary@gmail.com to make sure our volunteers will be there to accept them.
• If you would like a donation receipt for tax purposes, please request one from the check out desk. 

There are occasional moratoriums on donations due to preparations for book sales or storage limitations, so calling ahead is always encouraged.

Wanted:  Volunteers for book sorting


Our book sale volunteers meet regularly to sort the many donated books for sale in our book store at the library (in the east lobby) and for our semi-annual book sale.  We are looking for people who are familiar with books to sort books, look up values online, stock our bookstore and otherwise help this committee.

 

If you love books, consider joining this group of volunteers.  Many find it an interesting job to sort through books new and old and help the library with it’s biggest fundraiser, selling used books.  If you are interested in volunteering or have questions,  call Barbara Musselman at  (909) 596-1760.
