Friends of Claremont Library

Claremont, CA 91711

The Friends of the Library are people like you. They are your neighbors, families and friends in the community who are active advocates and supporters of Claremont’s public library. Through both volunteer and financial assistance, as well as special fundraisers (such as the Annual Adult Community Spelling Bee), the Friends help provide programs, materials, and equipment beyond the means of limited tax dollars. The Friends' support helps the Library staff to better meet Claremont’s need for quality library services.
The first thing you’ll see when you enter the library’s east entrance is a Friends institution, the used bookstore. The Friends operate the bookstore (many of the books available are in gift-giving condition. The Friends also host two special book sales (one each in the spring and in the fall) in the meeting room off the east entrance to the library) of donated books, magazines, CDs and DVDs. Proceeds from the used book sales and other special fundraisers are used to support the Children’s Summer Reading Program, Teen Summer Program, purchase needed equipment (computers, etc.), purchase books and special collections, support special performing arts programs for our community youth, and most recently, a citywide reading program (watch for the kickoff and community events this coming fall).
